Foundation supports Red Cross for NASCAR Day

April 22, 2009

The NASCAR Foundation has announced its partnership with American Red Cross for NASCAR Day 2009.

NASCAR Day is an annual celebration of the NASCAR spirit and the sixth observance will be held May 15. NASCAR fans, corporations, schools and organizations across the country are encouraged to donate $5, and all participants receive a collectible 2009 NASCAR Day lapel pin for their donation.

The NASCAR Foundation will donate $2.40 to the American Red Cross for every $5 donation generated through this special Red Cross Web page until May 15.

Get a pin by visiting the NASCAR.com superstore to make a $5 donation and receive an individual pin through the mail.

Sign up an organization for a free NASCAR Day kit with 25 pins or more. The designated "crew chief" for a business unit should sign up for the day kit, fill in the organization's information and enter the amount of pins a business would like to receive - the amount must be in multiples of 25. A portion of the donations for the NASCAR Day Kit will benefit local American Red Cross chapters or blood region.

Those who sign up will receive a kit containing the amount of pins requested and materials necessary to successfully implement your NASCAR Day celebration: crew chief manual, donation envelope and posters. Those who order a kit are pledging to donate $5 per pin ordered at the conclusion of the NASCAR Day campaign.

For more information visit www.nascar.com/foundation, or call the Central Kentucky Chapter of the American Red Cross at (859) 236-6538.

Funds resulting from individual pin orders will support national general operations expenses. Funds resulting from NASCAR Day Kit fundraising will support designated chapters or blood regions.
