Two Asbury Theological Seminary students were killed and a third man was injured in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 68, near Springmint Farm, on Friday afternoon. The wreck occurred about 3 p.m.

According to the Jessamine County Sheriff's Office, Charles Jacob, 28, Wilmore, the driver of a Mercury Tracer, lost control on a hill and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to veer into the path of an oncoming Ford van driven by 57-year-old Freddie Wilson of Lexington.

According to a news release from JSO, Wilson suffered no life-threatening injuires.

But Jacob and his passenger, 34-year-old Hanokhbhai Gohil, also of Wilmore, died in the crash.

The section of roadway where the accident occurred was still closed to traffic after 6 p.m., as authorities waited for a load of sand to be put down on the pavement.

Wet roads are thought to be a contributing factor in the crash, according to JSO.
