Gold X-Key winner

Kelley Boldt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Boldt, received the Gold X-Key Achievement Award and the Salter Political Science Award at Xavier University's All Honors Day.

Kelley is a senior majoring in political science at Xavier.

The Gold X-Key Achievement Award recognizes students' co-curricular involvement and contributions to the Xavier community. Junior and senior students are eligible for this Gold Key Award based upon the breadth of their campus involvement and academic achievement.

The George F. and Agatha M. Salter Political Science Award is presented to the student completing the political science major with the highest distinction.

Alive @25 program

Community Education announces a change in the date for the Alive @ 25 Driving program. Due to a change in the Clark County Public Schools calendar, the class originally scheduled for May 19 will be held on Thursday, June 4, 12:30 — 4:30 p.m. at GRC, Room G108. The class is free, but students must register in advance by calling 745-3946. Refreshments will be provided.

Alive @ 25 is an interactive driver education program that is sponsored by the National Safety Council and Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Georgetown. The goal is to reduce the number of violations, injuries and fatalities incurred by young drivers, and also to persuade young drivers to take responsibility for their behaviors and to adopt safer driving habits. Some insurance companies will give discounts for successful completion of this course.

Business management degree

MAYFIELD — Mid-Continent University's ADVANTAGE will be offering its accelerated Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Associate of Science with an emphasis in Business Administration degree completion program locally scheduled to begin soon.

Informational open houses will be held at the following times and locations: Tuesday, May 19, and Thursday, May 21, between 4 and 7 p.m. at the Clark County Public Library Conference Room located at 370 S. Burns Ave. in Winchester.

For more information, come and speak with an admissions representative on any day at any location. The programs are designed for working adults that wish to pursue a degree in the business field.

Local student earns master's degree

Ashley Arnett Harris, daughter of Darlene D. Harris of Lexington and Stephen F. Harris of North Port, Fla., earned her master's degree in education on May 9. She graduated Magna cum Laude, after having achieved a 4.0 GPA in her studies.

Ashley has been employed by the Fayette County Public School System as a first-grade teacher at Northern Elementary in Lexington since August 2005. She is the granddaughter of Bonnie Arnett Davis and the late Rady Davis of David, Ky.
