Danville fire officials are investigating a fire that started early this morning in a building on Ridgeway Drive.
Danville Fire Chief Mike Thomas said firefighters received a report of a structure fire with flames showing at 1012 Ridgeway Drive at 3:41 a.m. The Danville Police Department also responded and reported one of the occupants was fighting the flames using a garden hose, Thomas said.
Danville firefighters remained on the scene until just after 5 a.m.
"Basically we had mop-up duty," Thomas said. "The fire was largely contained and we got it taken care of with very little effort."
The fire began inside a storage room that opens to the outside and did not spread outside the room. Thomas said the room suffered a small amount of damage and is still habitable.
