Harrodsburg doctor pleads not guilty in the death of his wife

June 03, 2009

The Harrodsburg doctor who has been charged in the Friday death of his wife on Lake Herrington pleaded not guilty at his arraignment today.

Steven C. Hall's attorney, Greg Simms of Lebanon, told trial commissioner Adam Miller in Boyle District Court that Hall pleaded not guilty to the murder charge against him. Simms said Hall, who is currently being held without bond, would wait until his preliminary hearing to request bond.

Miller set Hall's preliminary hearing for 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

"What happened in this case was a horrific and very tragic accident for which the family will continue to struggle emotionally for a long time," Simms told the media after the arraignment. "Legally speaking, today we entered a plea of not guilty and by that we have declared Dr. Hall's innocence."

Simms said he and Hall have not discussed bond reduction with the state, but will most likely do so before the hearing on Thursday.
