Boyle County sprays for mosquitoes

Spraying for mosquitoes in Boyle County will be Wednesday, depending on weather conditions. Rain, wind or fog will cancel spraying. For questions contact officer Tom Broach, code enforcement, at (859) 238-1200.

Lancaster holds Party on the Square

LANCASTER - The Party on the Square will be 7-10 p.m. Friday on the Public Square.

Free all-beef hotdogs, drinks, homemade desserts and popcorn will be available. Booths will offer games, crafts for the kids, prizes and give-a-ways. Music, line dancing and a sing-along also are planned. Everything is free. Everyone is invited to help celebrate the third annual Garrard County Anti-Litter/Beautification Campaign. Bring a lawn chair and invite a friend.

In addition to local talent, live entertainment in front of the courthouse will include:

* 7:30-8 p.m., line dancing with The Steppin' Stones of Danville.

* 8 p.m., introduction of Miss Kentucky Teen America pageant winners, and three winners, including Katie Himes, Miss Kentucky Teen America, will sing.

* 8:30 p.m., banjo picking by Australian banjo maker (and new resident of Lancaster) Laurie Grundy.

* 9:30 p.m., sing-along with Andy Blyth.

Golf scramble to be held

Joe Clarke Memorial Golf Scramble will be held Friday at Old Bridge Golf Club. Lunch will be served at noon and shotgun starts at 1 p.m.

The cost is $75.00 for single, $250.00 for teams of four. A prize will be awarded to the winning team as well as numerous door prizes for those in attendance.

Phillippe family reunion

LANCASTER - The Phillippe family reunion will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Logan-Hubble Memorial Park, shelter two.

Participants are asked to bring food and drink to share.

Stanford Elementary holds registration

Stanford Elementary School will have kindergarten registration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 7 at the school. Parents must bring a certified copy of their child's birth certificate, social security number, immunization certificate, proof of address and their child, who will participate in kindergarten screenings.

Meetings

Stanford City Council - 5:30 p.m. today at Historic Stanford Depot. Items on the agenda include a municipal aid resolution for $33,416; second readings of the water and sewer budget and sewer rate increase ordinance; and first reading of the general fund budget ordinance.

Boyle County Board of Education - 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Boyle County High School library for a special called meeting. The agenda includes reports from the superintendent screening committee and an executive session to discuss personnel. A reception for retirees will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the BCHS cafeteria. The board's regular meeting will follow at 7 p.m. The agenda includes: consideration of budget amendments for the 2008-09 school year; renewing bids for school pictures, yearbooks and drug testing; and voting on emergency certification for substitute teachers for the 2009-2010 school year.

Danville-Boyle County Airport Board - 7 p.m. Thursday in the airport board room. The agenda includes general business.

Danville-Boyle County Recreation Commission - 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Rotary-Kroger Shelter at Millennium Park.

Correction

An obituary for Silverene Adams in Monday's paper should have said donations may be made to Heritage Hospice or a charity of one's choice. The information was wrong from the funeral home.
