R.J. Corman Annual 5K Run

Wilmore Parks and Recreation will host the R.J. Corman Annual 5K Run. The 5K run and One Mile Fun Run will be held June 27 in downtown Wilmore.

The event will start with the One Mile Fun Run at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K Run will follow at 8 a.m. The starting and ending point will be in front of the Wilmore United Methodist Church (East Main Street).

Water will be available along the course and refreshments after the race. All One Mile Fun Run entrants get a free T-Shirt

Registration forms can be found at www.wilmore.org, Wilmore City Hall and on the day of the race.

Late registration and registering the day of the race will be $10 for the One Mile Fun Run and $12 for the 5K.

The event is sponsored by the R.J. Corman Railroad Group, Central Bank and Taylor Made Farm. For more information contact the parks and recreation office at 858-9031 or wilmorepark@gmail.com. This event is in conjunction with week-long events celebrating Wilmore's Festival of the Fourth.

WJHS golf scramble

The boys and girls West Jessamine golf teams will be having a fundraising scramble at Connemara golf course Sunday July 12.

Lunch will be at 1 p.m., and the scramble starts at 2 p.m.

The boys are defending regional champs, and the girls were 2008 regional champs and state runners-up.

Bluegrass State Games Disc Golf

Play disc golf for the honor of becoming a Kentucky gold medalist in the Bluegrass State Games.

The Games will host the disc golf tournament Saturday July 18 at the Lake Mingo and Riney B Disc Golf Courses in Nicholasville.

Registration will take place from 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., and the player's meeting begins at 9 a.m. at Riney B Park.

All PDGA Divisions will be offered. The tournament will be played under the current PDGA rules, but you do not need to be PDGA member to play.

The event will feature 18 holes at Riney B in the morning. After a break for lunch (optionally provided at Lake Mingo Park for $5), 18 holes will be played at Lake Mingo in the afternoon.

Juniors, Novices, Recs, and Amateur Women will play Riney B from shorter/easier tee pads.

The field will be limited to 90 participants. All participants must be Kentucky residents.

Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded in all divisions. All participants will receive a Bluegrass State Games T-shirt.

The cost is $20 if registered and paid by July 6th. After July 6th, a $5 late fee will be assessed. Those pre-registered will be eligible for prizes.

All participants will be eligible to receive a door prize and compete in a closest-to-the-pin competition.
