Dale P. Helton1945-2009

LIBERTY- Dale P. Helton, 63, died Friday, July 3, 2009, in Bryantsville.

Born on Nov. 21, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Marcus T. Ponder and Aline Coleman Ponder.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia A. Phillips.

Survivors include two sons, Glen E. Phillips Jr. and Richard L. Helton; two grandchildren, Steven Garrett and Ciara G. Phillips; two great-grandchildren, Makenna Phillips and Weston Garrett; and a brother, Mark Ponder.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Walter Price officiating. Burial will be in Willow Springs Cemetery.


Visitation is 5 -9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Hayden Joines

LIBERTY- Hayden Joines, 76, died Thursday, July 2, at Casey County Hospital.

He was a retired welder for Columbia Gulf, an Air Force veteran and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Thomas Joines; two sons, Tommie and Paul Dwayne Joines, both of Liberty; a daughter, Cathy Lynn of Monticello; four grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Joines of Ohio.

Funeral services are 4 p.m. today at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. The Revs. Phillip Patton and Buel Hayes will officiate. Burial is in Old Antioch Cemetery with military honors.


Ralph Cotton

LANCASTER- Ralph Cotton, 87, died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at his home.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Reba Preston Cotton.

Ralph was a World War II veteran, a retired farmer and a member and deacon of Bethel Christian Church for more than 60 years. He was a lifetime member of Blind American Veterans and Lifetime member of DAV.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenmore Cotton and Owsley Cotton, and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Cotton.

Other survivors include a sister-in law, Henrietta Cotton of Nicholasville; a nephew, David (Vivian) Cotton of Nicholasville; three nieces, Sharon (Jim) Hamilton of Lancaster, Sue Janet (Jim) Metcalf of Bowling Green and Judy Clark of Florida.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dale Ballinger, Dr. Donald Graham and Gary Story officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.

Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Rankin, Noel Cotton, Noel Cotton Jr., David Cotton, Jay Schroyer and Brian Whitaker.


Robert T. Owens 1956-2009

CRAB ORCHARD- Robert Truman "Rub" Owens, 52, of Crab Orchard died Friday, July 3, 2009, at Fort Logan Hospital.

Born Nov. 4, 1956, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of Ruby Lois Shelton Owens and the late Truman Owens. He attended the Baptist church. He was a drywall hanger and finisher.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Diana Miller and Robin Renee Renner; a brother, James George Owens; a sister, Sally Catherine Adams; and five grandchildren, Hannah, Elijah, Michelle, Isabell and Karlee.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Gutenson officiating. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

Visitation is after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Tim Miller, Royce Poynter, Ricky and Donnie Volk, Danny Wilburn and Ed Shelton. Honorary pallbearer is Keith Volk.


Kristy D. Taylor 1985-2009

HARRODSBURG- Kristin "Kristy" Dawn Taylor, 24, died Thursday, July 2, 2009.

She was the daughter of Michael Edward Taylor and Lynne and Leo Vaughn Jr.

Survivors include her son, Kamren Jones; her daughter, Kaylei Jones; three brothers, Brandon Taylor, Jason Vaughn and Austin Vaughn; two sisters; Shelby Lewis and Haley Taylor; paternal grandparents Bobby and Peggy Taylor; and maternal step-grandparents Dickie and Betty Steele.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Cox and Gilbert Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 -8 p.m. Monday and after 7 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
