NPD asking for public's help in Dollar General shoplifting case

July 09, 2009|Mike Moore

The Nicholasville Police Department is asking the public's help in locating an black woman who they believe is involved in a shoplifting incident.

NPD spokesperson Scott Harvey said the woman in the picture had two young female accomplices who also stole items from the Dollar General Store in Edgewood Plaza on June 17.

"It may have been a mom and two young teens, and they appeared to be all shoplifting together," Harvey said.

Harvey said while the alleged crime is a misdemeanor, the fact that the adult woman seemed to be encouraging the teens was disturbing.

"It looks like a shoplifting training class, and so we want to find out who she is and get this behavior stopped," he said.

The surveillance video showed the lady and the two teens stuffing merchandise into their oversized purses. At one point, the video showed one of the teens in a celebratory dance.
