Sutton's hosts Chamber event

The Danville/Boyle County Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours July program will be hosted by Sutton's Restaurant on Thursday from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

This will be a four-county Business After Hours so bring your business cards to network and develop new business leads.

This will also be a Pot of Gold event, which is now up to $1,200. The standard rules apply, which means you must be a Boyle County Chamber member and be present to win. Additional door prizes will also be given away.

Woodlawn registration set

Woodlawn Elementary School will be registering new and returning students from noon-7 p.m. on July 23 and from 1-6 p.m. on July 28 in the school's media center.

For returning students, proof of residency is required- two summer utility bills. New students will need a proof of residency, a Kentucky immunization form, a physical, state-issued birth certificate and Social Security card.

Registration won't be available at Woodlawn's annual PTO Back-to-School Picnic on Aug. 4.

Woodlawn will also have its Kindergarten JumpStart from 10 a.m.-noon on July 28 at the school.

Kindergarten JumpStart will provide students the chance to meet their teacher and classmates. Parent orientation will follow in the school cafeteria.

Constitution Fest adds pageant

The Constitution Square Arts Fest has announced the first of several new events - the addition of Miss Constitution Square Arts Fest Pageant.

The pageant will take place 6 p.m. Sept. 18. The pageant is open to young women age 16-21.

Criteria, rules and applications are available online at www.constitutionsquareartsfest.org or at the Heart of Danville office at 304 South Fourth Street. The entry fee is $35.

The contestant named Miss Constitution Square Arts Fest Pageant will receive a $500 scholarship, crown and banner and will qualify to participate in the 2009 Kentucky Festivals State Finals Nov.14-15 in Lexington. The winner will be required to make short appearances at the festival throughout the weekend.

Elder Abuse council to meet

The Central Kentucky Elder Abuse Council will meet at noon on Tuesday at Sutton's Restaurant.

The council will discuss upcoming events, as well as hear a presentation from a representative of the Winchester Fire Department. He will discuss "Project Lifesaver," a new safety program for seniors.

Christian women to meet

The Danville Christian Women's Club brunch will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Danville Country Club. The speaker will be Denita Arnold of Louisville. Special music will be provided by Lydia Graham. The cost is $12. Reservations are necessary. Call (859) 236-8774 or 236-7525.

Correction

Ibannia Wilson, daughter of John and Ida Wilson of Somerset, was named cutest baby girl, 12-18 months, at the 2009 Lincoln County Fair Baby Show. Her name was spelled incorrectly in results previously published that were submitted to the newspaper by fair officials.
