Edna Campbell Cole, 100, died in Naples, Fla., on July 21, 2009, where she had been a resident since 1997. She was born in Louisville and graduated from Atherton High School in 1926, attended the University of Louisville, and trained as a medical technician at the old Norton Infirmary. For many years she resided with her family in Nicholasville and was an active and giving member of the community and one of the founding members of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward C. Campbell and Emma Jones Campbell of Louisville, her sister, Elizabeth Jones Rinehart of Westhampton, Mass. and in 1981 by her husband, James D. Cole of Nicholasville, and by Max of Naples, Fla. She is survived by her daughter, Lea Cole Smith and her husband, David Smith of Naples, her son, John David Cole and his wife, Vickie A. Cole of Bowling Green, Ky., and three grandsons, John David Cole Jr. and his wife, Heather Wilson Cole of Bowling Green, William Mohead Cole and wife, Erin McGreer-Cole of Fossil, Ore., and Rodes Myers Cole and his wife, Elizabeth Scroggins Cole, and great-granddaughter, Marion Claire Cole and a great-grandson, Rodes Myers Cole Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.
