Danville - Boyle County Humane Society Pets of the Week for July 29

July 29, 2009

Our pets of the week are Lou Ann and Jack. Lou Ann is a beautiful Siamese/tabby mix. She has gorgeous blue eyes. She is friendly and loving and just waiting for her new home.

Jack is a wonderful 2-year-old beagle mix. He is gentle and calm and loves to go for walks on a leash. Jack has lost the sight in one eye so he needs an adopter with a kind heart.

The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society is having a summer fur sale. Through July, kittens are two for the price of one, and adult dogs and cats are $20 off the regular adoption fee. Prices include spay or neuter surgery and much more. If you are considering adding a pet to your family, come to the shelter and visit the beautiful animals waiting for new homes. Also, many of our available pets may be viewed at our Web site www.homes4pets.org.

The humane society is in urgent need of volunteers for Saturday and Sunday afternoons at our adoption center at the PetSmart at Brannon Crossing in Nicholasville. Contact Charlotta Norby by e-mail, charlotta58@gmail.com, to learn how you can help with the rewarding work of placing homeless animals with their new forever families.

The humane society welcomes donations of Purina puppy chow and Purina cat food and kitten chow along with bleach, paper towels, laundry detergent, dish detergent and hand soap. We also need used towels and blankets. Your donations to the shelter are greatly appreciated.

Our next obedience class will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Stuart Powell Ford on the Danville bypass. The class, taught by Cheri Carbone, an accredited dog trainer, is free for those who have adopted from a shelter or rescue. Others are welcome to join in for a small donation to the humane society.

Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes. For an appointment, call our Happy Paws Clinic at (859) 691-1137. Please help control the pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered.
