A lightning strike during Tuesday afternoon's heavy storms damaged a home on 102 Windridge Drive in Jessamine County.
According to Jessamine County Fire Chief Mike Rupard, lightning struck the home just around 3:30 p.m., starting a fire that damaged the outer walls on the first and second floors and caused some damage in the attic.
The son and daughter of the owner were home at the time of the strike but were uninjured.
Firefighters also examined the neighboring home, 104 Windridge Drive, after the owner reported smoke inside his home at the same time. Rupard said the origin of the smoke in that home was unknown, but there was no fire.
