Driving class offered Sept. 10

Individuals age 55 or older are invited to participate in a "55 Alive" driving class sponsored by McDowell Wellness Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 10.

The cost is $12 for AARP members (bring AARP card to class) or $14 for non-AARP members. Refreshments will be provided.

This course is sanctioned by the AARP. Individuals who complete the course may be eligible for a five-year discount on their automobile insurance. You do not have to be a member of AARP or McDowell Wellness Center to participate.

Church to have speaker

The Rev. Henry Montgomery of Wurtland Church of God, Ashland, will speak at Eagle's Nest Church, 260 Tank Pond Road, Parksville, at 7 p.m. today. The minister is John Montgomery.

Meeting

Lincoln County Board of Adjustments - meeting/public hearing at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Lincoln County Courthouse second floor courtroom. The board will discuss a conditional-use permit requested by Arthur and Amy Armstrong for property at 365 J. Shelton Road, Crab Orchard, in order to operate a state-approved child-care services as an in-home occupation. Property currently is zoned agricultural.
