While enjoying lunch on the porch at Hall's Restaurant, the Alpha Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa had its first meeting of the 2009-2010 year on July 31. Chaplain Amy Handshoe gave the devotional.
Members prepared notes of encouragement for teachers and tucked a Wal-Mart gift card into the notes. Each of the approximately 40 new teachers in Clark County will receive a note.
President Ruth Ann Moore presided over the business meeting. She thanked each member for participating in welcoming the new teachers to Clark County. She outlined the monthly topics and projects for the coming year, such as the style show in September, helping with Operation Happiness, avirtual tour of historical homes in Winchester, preparing goody bags for the nursing home and volunteering with Partners in Education.
Nancy Hanna read the minutes, and Carol Ann Oliver gave the treasurer's report.
Members were reminded that the theme for the year is "Excellence in Action."
