Both of the people charged with the May murder of Harrodsburg resident Debora Kay Brooks waived their preliminary hearings on Tuesday. Their cases will now go before a Mercer County grand jury for possible indictment.
Paul E. Estes, 36, of 62 Cold Springs Drive, Lancaster, and Megan Nicole Brooks, 22, of 206 Belmont Circle, Harrodsburg, were arrested earlier this month and charged with the murder of Megan Brooks' mother.
Estes' attorney, public defender Susanne McCollough, said Estes has provided a statement to police, admitting to his role in the death of Debora Brooks.
Harrodsburg police Detective Garry Bradshaw confirmed that Estes has provided police with a full confession of his role in the death and is cooperating in the investigation. Bradshaw said police are not revealing Estes' statement at this time.
