Three injured in Colby Road crash

August 26, 2009|By Rachel Parsons

Three people were transported to Clark Regional Medical Center Tuesday afternoon after an accident on the Bypass involving three vehicles.

According to a report from the Winchester Police Department, Anastasia Jones of Richmond was traveling south and entered a turning lane so she could turn onto Colby Road.

Jones told officers the light was still yellow when she turned, and she was struck on the passenger side by Larry Long of Gallipolis, Ohio.

After being hit by Long's vehicle, Jones then struck a vehicle driven by David C. Howard. Howard was stopped in a turning lane on Colby Road, facing west, when the accident occurred. Jones collided with the front of his vehicle.

"It appeared that Unit 1 (Jones) is the one that we feel as though may have caused the accident. It appeared that she went through the arrow when the light was green on the other side, and her car was knocked into the other car," said Winchester Police Sgt. Howard Frick.

Jones, Long and a passenger in Long's vehicle, Cathy Long, were all taken to Clark Regional Medical Center. Frick said the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.
