Prep Golf round-up: Draut leads Boyle to win

Alexis Draut shot 46 Tuesday to lead Boyle to a nine-stroke victory over Western Hills in Frankfort on the same Juniper Hills Golf Course where it had lost to Franklin a week earlier.

"Nearly all our athletes improved upon their previous scores from the same venue last week in the loss to Franklin County," Boyle assistant coach Sandy Waters said.

Boyle posted a team score of 200, while Western Hills shot 209.

Jessica Shannon and Caroline McDonald each shot personal-best rounds for the Lady Rebels at 50 and 54, respectively. Rachel Pingleton also shot 50.

"After the tough loss at home (Monday to Paul Dunbar), the coaches are very pleased our athletes were able to put it behind them and move forward. Our team is maturing with each match played," Waters said.

West Jessamine 168, Mercer County 185 — At Harrodsburg, Mercer (4-8) posted its lowest nine-hole match score of the season, but the Titans had the misfortune of doing so against one of the best teams in the 7th Region, West Jessamine.

Sophomores Emili Moore and Caitlin Baer each shot 44 at Bright Leaf to lead Mercer, while Ally Perrin was right behind at 45.

Emily Haas shot 37 and Grace Rose shot 38 for West Jessamine.

"West Jessamine is the best team we have faced this season and is certainly a favorite to win the region along with Franklin County," Mercer coach Terry Dailey said. "We were able to build on our 3rd place finish in the East Jessamine Invitational this past Saturday and continue to improve."

BOYS

West Jessamine 150, Boyle County 151 — At Danville, Boyle came up one stroke of West Jessamine short at Old Bridge in a Kentucky Bluegrass Conference match in which four players from each team broke 40.

Boyle's Grant Blevins posted the lowest score of the match at 1-under-par 35, followed by Spencer Taylor at 38.

Fred Allen Meyer and Conner Haas each shot 36 for West Jessamine.

Rockcastle County 150, Danville 170 — At Mount Vernon, Danville fell as Rockcastle shot a season-low score at Cedar Rapids.

Tanner Burks and J.B. Williams each shot 38 to lead the Admirals.
