Soccer: Centre's Horne named head coach

Former Centre College men's soccer player, and current assistant coach, David Horne has resigned to become the head coach of the new Professional Arena Soccer League's Louisville Lightning.

Horne competed with Cincinnati 1790 of the PASL-Pro last season, where the team made it to the North American Indoor National Championships in Stockton, Calif. Cincinnati 1790 finished runner-up to the hosts and champions, the Stockton Cougars.

The Louisville native, who was entering his third season with the Colonels, will also take over the general manager operations. The PASL season begins November 15.

He becomes the second assistant coach under Centre head coach Jeb Burch to be named to a head coaching position. Previous assistant Mark Hudson is entering his third season with Austin College.

"We are obviously all very proud of David," Burch said. "His attention to detail and knowledge of the game is exceptional and I know the Lightning have picked the right person for the job."

Former Centre Academic All-American & All-American Adam Boyer, who graduated last year, will serve as the interim assistant coach while a national search is conducted.
