William "Bill" Long, Sr., 77

William "Bill" Long, Sr., 77, of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 18 at his home.

A native of Lincoln County, he was born Sept. 25, 1931, to the late Walter T. "Bunch" Long and Nettie Clark Long. He was the former owner/ operator of Long's Grocery and Furniture, retired from IBM in Lexington, worked at LexMark, operated Long's Flea Market, an Army veteran, a Mason and member of the Stanford Christian Church and John Logan Post American Legion.

He was also preceded in death by a grandson, William T. Long; and two brothers, Walter C. and Freddie Long.

Survivors include a special friend, Nellie Long; four children, Billy (Melenda) Long of Waynesburg, Kristy (Galen) Yoder of Nappanee, Ind., Roger (Twila) Long of Nicholasville and Donna (Kevin) Robbins of Stanford; a brother, Harold Long of Danville; sister, Doris Noland of Stanford; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug. 21 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Rev. Lewis Walters officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were children and grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Joseph, Elvis Anderson, Eugene Adams, Jim Bishop, Jerry Reynolds, Russell Emerson, Virgil Swift and Raymond Rogers.
