Letter: Marching Rebels work hard

August 30, 2009

Dear Editor,

This is in response to a letter earlier this week from Richard Ray. I am a proud parent of a Marching Rebel. This is the first year for my child in band. This has been quite a learning experience for my child and me.

The work that goes into being a Marching Rebel is exhausting for these students. She and fellow band students have spent countless hours out in the heat day-after-day for weeks now to prepare for the first game activities. They gave up half their summer and time with friends to commit to something they believe in and love.

Band is a sport, also! How dare anyone insult these kids? May I suggest he have a change of heart and cheer for the band and cheerleaders at the next home games to show he is a true Rebel Fan?

I was amazed at how well they did on Friday night. I couldn't have been more proud of each of them. Great job, Marching Rebels and Rebel cheerleaders! Keep up the good work!
