High Speed Chase

Jeffrey C. Caudill, 33, of Waynesburg was arrested on Monday after a chase that reached speeds of 80-miles an hour that began in Rowland and passed through Ottenheim and Pine Grove.

Sheriff's Office Chief of Operations Dannie Gilliam attempted to stop Caudill after receiving complaints that he was intoxicated. Caudill ignored the lights and siren and attempted to flee. In Pine Grove, Constable Johnny Williams joined the pursuit and Gilliam initiated a "rolling roadblock" by passing Caudill then boxing him in. Caudill refused to comply with officers' directions and resisted Williams so Gilliam employed his Taser. Deputy Chad Smith took Caudill into custody and took him to the Lincoln County Regional Detention Center. He has been charged with operating a vehicle under the influence, fleeing and evading, wanton endangerment, reckless driving, no insurance and 14 traffic violations.
