Parksville church sets gospel concert



Eagles Nest Church will have a gospel concert with the VanHook Family as the featured performers and other local singers at 7 p.m. Friday. Refreshments will be served. The church is on Tank Pond Road in Parksville.

Diabetes coalition offers program



The Boyle County Diabetes Coalition will present a program titled "Beans: A Basic Food with Lots of Benefits," 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Boyle County Health Department. The speaker will be Julie Steber, registered dietitian. There is no cost for attending this program and light refreshments will be served. Sign language classes offered



Community Sign Language classes will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 21-Nov. 16, at Kentucky School for the Deaf, Kerr Hall. Three levels of American Sign Language will be offered. Classes are subject to cancellation pending a minimum of 15 students enrolled in each class. Cost is $40 per person. Pike family reunion planned



The Pike family reunion is planned for Sunday at the Boyle County Fairground building. A potluck lunch will be served. Bring a dish or two to share. The event will include some genealogy, music, singing and more.

Head Start participates in food program



Crescent Drive Head Start, at 456 Crescent Drive in Danville, along with The Blue Grass Community Action partnership, is participating in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program administered by the Kentucky Department of Education.

Meals will be served at no separate charge to enrolled participants at the center and are provided without regard to race color, national origin, sex, age or disability.

Participants must have a complete application with documentation of eligibility information, which may include a food stamp or K-TAP case number, or names of household members and income information.

City of Crab Orchard — 6:30 p.m. today at city hall. Items on the agenda include the appointment and swearing in of a new commissioner; appointment to Planning and Zoning; sidewalk grant administrator; municipal road aide agreement and resolution; and property tax rate.

Danville-Boyle County Airport Board — 7 p.m. today at Stuart Powell Ford.

Danville City Commission — 9 a.m. Friday at the Community Arts Center. The agenda includes a first reading of an ordinance for new property tax rates and municipal building change orders.

Central Kentucky Elder Abuse Council — noon Tuesday at Sutton's restaurant.
