Police news: Marijuana plants found in Lincoln County

September 03, 2009

WAYNESBURG — Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies found 57 marijuana plants growing in a corn field Tuesday night.

Deputies Sim Thacker and Jeremy Garrison discovered the plants in a field on Ky. 178, about five miles east of Waynesburg.

Sheriff Curt Folger said that no arrests were made and the property owner is not suspected of being involved.

Folger said that the investigation into who planted the crop will continue, but he does not think that it is connected to any other growing operation.

Folger said that the street value of the plants was close to $100,000.
