A new organization is being formed to support the construction and operation of the Parks and Recreation Department's new indoor swimming pool facility.
The Friends of the Winchester/Clark County Health and Wellness Foundation is working to gain nonprofit status, and will be seeking funds to provide facilities within the College Park building as well as assist with operating costs.
Capital funds are needed to offset the cost of owner-provided equipment, fixtures and furniture.
These include a multipurpose room or kitchen and all equipment; weight room and all equipment; cardio room and all equipment; diving board; all of the restrooms' amenities such as paper and soap dispensers, trash receptacles, baby changing station, handicap shower seat and shower curtains and rods; lifeguard chairs; safety ropes; starting blocks; laundry equipment; cash register; computers and software; safety equipment, pool chemicals and cleaning equipment; and many additional items.
Funding for operating costs is needed as well, given that staff numbers will increase dramatically. The total needed for these items for initial operation is $400,365.
