Danville - Boyle County Humane Society Pets of the Week for September 15

September 15, 2009

Our pets of the week are Sasha and Dixie. Sasha is a beautiful long-haired black and white cat. This 8-year-old girl had to come to the shelter when her previous owner came upon hard financial times. Sasha is friendly and sweet and is ready to go to her new home.

Dixie is a 6-month-old puppy with extra long ears. She may be a Basenji and terrier mix. Dixie is energetic and friendly and gets along with other dogs. Dixie's new owner will definitely get a lot of comments about her unusual look.

Danville-Boyle County Humane Society is continuing its summer fur sale through September. Kittens are two for the price of one, and adult dogs and cats are $20 off the regular adoption fee. Prices include spay or neuter surgery and much more.

If you are considering adding a pet to your family, come to the shelter and visit the beautiful animals waiting for new homes. Also, many of the available pets may be viewed www.homes4pets.org.

The next obedience class will be 12:30 p.m. Oct. 3 in the Stuart Powell Ford garage on the bypass. The class, taught by dog trainer Cheri Carbone, is free to those who have adopted from a shelter or rescue. Others are welcome to join in for a small donation to the Humane Society.
