Early-morning wreck ties up U.S. 27 traffic

An early morning wreck involving a semi truck and a box truck tied up traffic for more than two hours on U.S. 27 near Catnip Hill Road Wednesday morning.

There were no serious injuries, but there was a significant diesel fuel spill, according to Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Baker. The wreck occurred around 6 a.m.

The road reopened at 8 p.m.
