Letter: Volunteers improve McClure Barbee

September 28, 2009

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the organizations and staff at the McClure Barbee House, we would like to say a very special thank you to the Heart of Kentucky United Way, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and Kentucky Utilities for their help on the Day of Caring Sept. 23.

Volunteers worked for four hours landscaping our flower beds, weeding our fence, planting and transplanting flowers, trimming trees, cleaning gutters, painting, and organizing our storage building and a closet. Two truckloads of debris were hauled off from all their hard work.

The McClure Barbee House is home to the Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership, the Heart of Danville and the Industrial Foundation and is a first stop for many coming to our community. Our first impression is important, and they helped improve that dramatically on Wednesday.

We so appreciate all of the volunteers from Ephraim McDowell and KU. They truly did "Live United" in helping us with some much needed work. Thank you so much!
