Baskin-Robbins participates in benefit event



Baskin-Robbins has teamed up with Centre College's Interfraternity Council to donate a percentage of ice cream sales towards the "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" benefit. From 6-10 p.m. tonight, 15 percent of all sales will be donated towards the event which raises money for the Bluegrass Rape Crisis Center.

Free Spanish lessons offered at Centre College



Centre College Spanish majors are offering free Spanish lessons from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Crounse Hall room 313. Classes begin Oct. 1. Contact kimmy.williams@centre.edu or sarah.hargis@centre.edu with questions.

Fish fry and food sale planned



St. James AME Church at 124 E. Walnut St. will have a fish fry and food sale beginning at 11 a.m. Friday. Fish and chicken will be sold for $7 a plate or $4 a sandwich. Plates include a choice of two vegetables — cole slaw, baked beans, greens, green beans, soup beans or macaroni and cheese. Side dishes are $1.50 and soft drinks are 50 cents. Pies are $8 for a whole pie or $1.50 for a slice. Cakes and other desserts are available. For information or delivery, call (859) 236-3241.

Cut-a-thon will benefit Burgin family



Jennifer's Salon beside Save-A-Lot grocery is having a cut-a-thon 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to benefit Tamika Marlow of Burgin, whose fiancé, Anthony Woodard, died in June when a tree fell on him. Woodard had three young children. The salon will give dry cuts for donations. For more information, call (859) 936-1677.

Danville Architectural Review Board — 1 p.m. Friday at the McClure Barbee House. The agenda includes a request for action from Ephraim McDowell Health.

Danville-Boyle County Planning and Zoning Commission — 9:30 a.m. Oct. 7 in the third floor meeting room at Farmers National Bank. The agenda includes a final plat amendment for William Nicholson's Walnut Street property, and a site plan revocation and new site plan for Greenleaf Plant Food.

Lincoln County Cedar Creek Planning Commission — 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 at the Lincoln County courthouse second floor courtroom. Business to be discussed includes a proposed text amendment to the Lincoln County Subdivision Regulations concerning sidewalks, street right-of-ways and grades that were tabled at the September meeting. New business includes the site plan application and drainage plan application from Henry Miller concerning 4.156 acres located at 1028 Ky. 643 in Crab Orchard.
