LANCASTER — Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed Garrard County's Emergency Management Director Wendell Hatfield to the Kentucky Emergency Response Commission.
The commission is a 25-person board created in 1988 to provide information to citizens about hazardous substances in their communities and meet the requirements of the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act.
The commission is in charge of collecting certain hazardous material report forms and fees, and offers administrative support to the state's 118 local emergency planning committees. Hatfield will serve until March 2011.
