October 03, 2009

The Danville boys took a two-goal halftime lead and went on for a 3-0 victory at Mercer County.

Jake Winkler had a goal and assist for the Admirals (12-1-3), who have not lost since a 2-1 loss to Lexington Christian on Sept. 2.

Ethan Hobson took Winkler's header in the box and put it in the net to put the Ads up 1-0 12 1/2 minutes into the match.

With 6 minutes left in the first half, Winkler scored off a pass from Max Meckes to give Danville a 2-0 halftime lead.

Danville will play Murray in the All "A" State Cup semifinals at 1 p.m. today in Frankfort.

If they win, the Ads play the winner of St. Henry and Sayre in the 5 p.m. finals.
