Dear Editor,
Jim Porter and I agree that the Mallard Fillmore cartoon misspoke when saying "a couple million conservatives." However, Mr. Porter's own figure of 70,000 is much too low. I notice he doesn't cite his "most reliable resources," either. Who are those sources?
But more importantly, Mr. Porter and all media (even the Fox News Channel) failed to mention that while we'd agree a very large group of concerned citizens from all walks of life and political persuasions did converge on Washington, D.C., on Sept. 12, literally tens of thousands of rallies were held all across this nation in large and small cities alike.
Fort Worth, Texas, expected 5,000 people, but 20,000 showed up on Sept. 12 in the rain. My family and I attended a Sept. 12 Rally in Somerset, where approximately 300 people showed up. In my former hometown in California, over 2,000 people showed up. As seems to be the norm for those on the left, Mr. Porter just had to resort to including disparaging remarks about the attendees, calling them ugly. Once again, we see those on the left tossing out barbs. I wonder how he would describe the G-20 protesters two weeks ago in Pittsburgh. Pretty?
