Pool project ahead of schedule

October 13, 2009|By Keith Taylor

It won't be long before the indoor pool at College Park will be under one roof.

The Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation Board heard an update on the structure during its monthly meeting Monday night at College Park Gym.

The project is 23 days ahead of schedule on the outside, and approximately 30 days behind on the inside portion, but board chairman Charlie Eury said the project is moving ahead at full speed. Construction officials are "optimistic" the project will be "finished ahead of time."

Eury said the excavation of the regulation pool is 85 percent completed and will be finished within the next 30 days. In addition, Eury said workers are hopeful a roof will be on the structure by Thanksgiving, which will speed up inside work on the project.
