The KTCCA Meet of Champions was held Saturday at Masterson Station Park in Lexington.

In the boys 5K run in the AA classification, the West Jessamine High boys finished third overall, just three points back of second place Boyle County.

Rutti Eberhard was the Colts' top finisher with a 10th-place finish. Todd Yoder grabbed 19th place and Jeff Walker finished 22nd. Joseph Durbin finished 26th to give the Colts four runners in the top 30.

The East High boys were missing a large part of their squad because of various injuries.

The Jaguar girls, though, captured seventh place overall. East was paced by Shelby Courtney who finished in 17th place. Rebekah Henderson took 24th place. Lacey Tingley and Daylei Dekrey captured 30th and 35th place respectively.

The West girls finished 9th overall. They were paced by Ashley Neyman's 27th-place finish and Allison Brown's 28th-place finish. Annika Stryker finished 40th and Julianne Bandy captured 55th place.

The event was also the state meet for the middle school teams, capping off a strong season for the West Middle team. The boys had finished first in the conference and the girls were second. The team was paced by all-conference runner, Zach Flener who won 14th place among sixth graders. Ben Yost finished 44th.

"Saturday was a muddy race and a big race, but everyone came out ready to run," West middle Coach Melissa Steinsdoerfer said. "They had a strong finish to their season."

The high school teams will compete in their regional meet at Knox Central Saturday, looking for bids to the state meet a week later.

East Coach Jamie Huzl said she should have her top two runners, Nicholas Huzl and Robbie Laufenberg, back for the regional meet.
