Letters to the editor for Nov. 6

November 06, 2009

Citizens Police Academy was good experience

To the editor:

My wife, Deloris, and I have just completed the first Citizens Police Academy conducted by the Winchester Police Department and the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

We found out how the officers are trained, how they conduct their jobs, their many responsibilities, different problems that are present in Winchester and Clark County, and the dangers the officers face daily.

The classes and the presenting officers were extremely professional and knowledgeable, which made the classes very enjoyable.

We would like to thank all involved for the time spent in preparation of the classes and the many presentations.

This shows the professionalism and dedication of the two police forces. It showed my wife and me that we are being served by an excellent police department and sheriff's office.

Missed the comics

To the editor:

Your Friday paper last week, while being one of your better editions, did have one glaring omission. The page that has the comics and the crossword puzzle was missing from my paper.

I hope to see it in an upcoming edition.

Thanks for your time.

Ronnie Dennis, Winchester

Editor's note: Because of an issue involving page count and the number of full-page ads in the paper last Friday, a decision had to be to not publish either the editorial page or the comics page for that issue, and it was decided to keep the editorial page.

What do you think?

To our readers:

The Winchester Sun welcomes letters to the editor from our readers.

Letters should be in good taste, not libelous, and be limited to 300 words or less.

They must include the writer's name, address and phone number, but this is for verification. Only the name and the name of the town or county are published unless the writer has asked us, for some reason, to include a street address or number.

Send your letters to rpatrick@winchestersun.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
