November 16, 2009

CRAB ORCHARD — A Somerset man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday night near Crab Orchard.

State Trooper Michael Keeton said Manford Harold Crank Jr., 37, was headed south on Ky. 39 three miles south of Crab Orchard about 5:20 p.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle in a curve.

Crank was thrown 75 feet over an embankment off the right side of the road before striking a telephone pole, Keeton said.

Lincoln County Coroner Farris Marcum said Crank, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene about 6:10 p.m.
