Mercer grand jury indicts 12

HARRODSBURG — A Mercer County grand jury recently indicted the following people:

* Todd Coffman, 30, 861 Scooter Ave., Harrodsburg, first-degree sexual abuse for allegedly having sexual contact with a girl younger than 12 between January 2004 and Aug. 13 of this year. Coffman also was indicted for theft more than $500 for allegedly selling a vehicle belonging to Victoria McClanahan on June 23. Bond was set at $25,000. Harrodsburg police Detective Garry Bradshaw and McClanahan testified before the grand jury.

* Robert Murphy, 36, of Crab Orchard, flagrant nonsupport for failing to pay child support for his minor daughter. Bond was set at $5,000. Anita Deaton testified.

* Scott Gilliam, 34, 846 Bellows Mill Road, manufacturing methamphetamine on Sept. 11. Bond was set at $40,000. Harrodsburg officer Scott Elder testified.

* Ashley Ritchie, 26, 1000 Bohon Road, bail jumping for allegedly skipping out on a hearing in Mercer Circcuit Court on Oct. 13. Bond was set at $10,000. Commonwealth's Detective Cindy Hammond testified.

* Rebecca Smith, 49, 303 Carson Court, Harrodsburg, welfare fraud for allegedly failing to report changes affecting her eligibility for public assistance between May and July. Bond was set at $5,000. Curt Radabaugh testified.

* Timothy Vinyard, 26, 303 Buster Pike, nine counts of forgery for allegedly having nine forged checks drawn on Community Trust Bank in August and September. Bond was set at $10,000. Harrodsburg officer Tony Godbey testified.

* Kayla Mattingly, 18, 445 E. Factory St., and Michael Scull, 21, 1074 Mundy's Landing Road, seven counts of forgery for allegedly having seven forged checks drawn on Whitaker Bank in September. Bond was set at $10,000 each. Harrodsburg officer Brian Allen testified.

* Zebadiah L. Murphy, 21, 1325 Ky. 33; Eric Coffman, 23, 406 Catlett Road; and Ronald Coffman Jr., 26, 527 Fairway Drive, burglary, theft more than $500 and criminal mischief for allegedly breaking into Sheila Hanes' house on Sept. 27, taking copper wire and causing more than $1,000 in damages in the process. Bond was set at $10,000 each. Officer Tim Gambrel testified.

* Kyle Devine, 25, 675 Mallard Cove, manufacturing methamphetamine, second offense possession of drug paraphernalia, and fleeing police on Sept. 6. Bond was set at $40,000. Burgin Police Chief Jim Caldwell testified.
