Pace picks up in election race

In the last two weeks more candidates have thrown their hat in the ring for the May 18, 2010 primary election. Candidates have until Jan. 26 to file.

County Attorney Daryl Day, a Republican, has filed for election to another term in that office. So far no Democrats have filed.

Former County Sheriff Shelby Lakes is the third Democrat to file for the sheriff's position.

Democrat David Gooch has filed for another term as Lincoln County Jailer as has Democrat Don Smith.

Democrat Farris Marcum has filed for the County Coroner race and is currently unopposed.

In District 2, Crab Orchard Mayor Bill Dyehouse, a Democrat, has filed for the magistrate's position against two previously announced Republican candidates.

In District 3, Democrat Timothy Siler of Waynesburg has tossed his hat in the ring for reelection, and Magistrate Terry Wilcher, a Democrat has filed for reelection in District 4.

Elmer Sparks, a Republican has filed for the District 1 Constable slot, and in District 2, Democrat Kenny Hodge filed for reelection as constable against Republican Jesse Harris and a previously announced candidate.
