Winchester Municipal Utilities employees, from left, Matt Ray, Johnny Tipton and Brian Durham held a steel sleeve in the correct position while the jaws of a trackhoe pushed it into place while making repairs to the 18-inch concrete water line from the Kentucky River to the utilities reservoir, top photo. A section of the line broke Tuesday of last week in a field off the Ford Hampton Road prompting the utility to shut down the line and just draw water from the reservoir. Jason Gomez, left photo, cut the section of repair pipe to length to complete the repair process Wednesday. The transmission line, which is approximately 60 years old, is expected to be put back in service today.
