The Nicholasville Fire Department battled two structure fires over the weekend.
The first blaze occurred Saturday, Dec. 19, at 109 Pleasant Grove at 7:48 p.m.
Firefighters arrived and found smoke and fire conditions coming from a side door. The fire was under control shortly after 8 p.m., according to an NFD report, and the last fire crew returned to service at 8:55 p.m.
According to the fire report, the fire began in a bedroom. There were no injuries in the blaze.
The second fire occurred early Monday at 12:30 a.m. at a duplex located at 244 Woodview Drive.
Fire crews arrived and found smoke and flames showing from the side of the duplex.
Firefighters from Engine One helped residents evacuate the structure as other crews battled the blaze.
There were no injuries to the residents, but two cats died in the blaze.
The structure suffered heavy fire, smoke and water damage.
