BEATRICE MURRAY GAY

Beatrice Murray Gay, 91, passed away Dec. 25 2009 in Jewish Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late William and Nina Murray. A native of Clark County, Beatrice was baptized at Providence Baptist Church, Lower Howard's Creek.

She is survived by five children, James Gay (Elizabeth) of Winchester, Alma Jones (Robert) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Clark Gay of Cincinnati, Ohio, Earl Gay of Lexington, and Anthony Gay of Lake Park, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; an adopted son, Arturo Sandoval; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ellis Gay Jr.

Services will be conducted Tuesday at noon. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

All services will be at Broadway Baptist Church.

Adams-Hill Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

BILLY RAY WORKMAN

Billy Ray Workman, 63, of Winchester, husband of Terry Jones Workman, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009 at the Clark Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Bourbon County on March 29, 1946 to the late Ray and Lou Ellen Boardman Workman.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Robert Workman of Frenchburg and Chris Workman of Winchester; a daughter, Stephanie Little of Winchester; a stepson, Tobey Akers of Winchester; a stepdaughter, Paige Christopher of Winchester; 14 grandchildren; and two sisters, Jane Allen and Phyllis Isaacs of Bourbon County.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Biddle and Maureen Raisor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Scobee Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the North Middletown Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Biddle, Marshall Devary, Greg "Peck" Salyers, Randy Abner, Lloyd Stanfield and "Hippie."

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Scobee Funeral Home.

EMILY CATHERINE FERGUSON

Emily Catherine Ferguson, 60, wife of Avery Samuel Ferguson, passed away Friday at the St. Joseph Hospital.

A native of Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Anna Mae Mobley King.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Juanita Reynolds, Lois Cotton and Helen Roland, all of Winchester; five sons, Jackie Ferguson of Wolfe County, Sam Ferguson Jr., Daniel Ferguson, Virgil S. "Charlie Brown" Ferguson and Jeffery Ferguson, all of Winchester; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mary Jane Powell and Anna Lois Powell of Winchester; three brothers, John King, Paul King and Lee King, all of Lexington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Scobee Funeral Home by Lester Robb.

Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Ferguson, Daniel Ferguson, Sammy Ferguson Jr., Jackie Ferguson, Ricky Roland, Michael Roland, Benny Webb and Jeff Webb.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

BRENDA STAMPER

Brenda Stamper, 61, of Richmond, wife of Tom Stamper, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.

Mrs. Stamper was born in Winchester on April 5, 1948 to the late Leo P. and Viola W. Cruse.

She was retired from the Lexington Blue Grass Army Depot and was a member of the Grace Bible Church.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a stepson, Thomas M. Stamper of Richmond; stepdaughter, Lenoa S. Lively of Charlotte, N.C.; two granddaughters; four stepgrandchildren; a twin sister, Betty C. (Dorsey) Wilson of Winchester; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and special friends, Joyce Pasley, Deanna Stone and Marjorie Palmer.

She was preceded in death by a son, Roy Clark Galloway IV and a brother, Robert C. Cruse.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30 at Scobee Funeral Home by the Rev. Lee Cruse.

Burial will be in the Winchester Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Daniel Wilson, Tom Stamper II and Charles Pasley II.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Swanner, Dorsey Wilson and Kathy Marshall.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Scobee Funeral Home.
