Burgin unsure about fire truck purchase

BURGIN — It remains unknown whether or not Burgin City Council will purchase a new fire truck for the Burgin City Fire Department.

At a special meeting Monday night, Mayor Terry Pitman opened one bid from High Tech Rescue, estimating the cost of a fire truck for the city to be $336,949.

No other bids were received.

The city council has 30 days from Monday to decide if it wants to accept or reject this bid.

A special meeting will take place in mid-January to make the decision.

At the meeting, Pitman said the city received some of its Federal Emergency Management Agency reimbursement — a little more than $47,400 — for work done during the aftermath of the ice storm last January.

Pitman said Burgin is still waiting on some of its reimbursement from FEMA.
