County Attorney Brian Thomas seeks re-election

Clark County Attorney Brian Thomas is running for a second term.

Thomas, 40, of 121 Albany Lane, had previously served as an assistant county attorney with former county attorney Robert L. Rose.

A Clark County native and Democrat, Thomas was elected as county attorney in 2006. During his term, Thomas said he implemented a number of changes and improvements in the Clark County Attorney's office and the Clark County Child Support Office, including an open door policy for the public, a new cold check collection process and new technology to automate the warrant and complaint process.

Thomas is a partner in the law firm of Grant, Rose & Pumphrey in Winchester. He was born and raised in Clark County, and is a 1987 graduate of George Rogers Clark High School. He received his bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture in 1991, and earned his law degree in 1994 from the University of Louisville College of Law.

He is a member of the Clark County Bar Association, the Kentucky County Attorney's Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he is a commissioner with the Winchester/Clark County Tourism Commission and a member of the board of directors of Hospice East, Inc.

Since 2003, Thomas has been a part-time professor at the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture. He is a member of Calvary Christian Church, where he serves as a deacon, is a member of the church's Finance Committee and has taught Sunday school classes and life groups.

He is married to Jessica Harrington Thomas and has two children, daughter Hunter Elyse and son Bryce Alexander.
