For over 50 years “Brother Shad” pastored churches in Kentucky, Arkansas and Texas. In 1990 he retired after 25 years of serving the great people of Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo.

The passion of his life was to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to all he came in contact with. His ministry took him to many countries of the world where he tirelessly preached the “Good News” and led thousands of people to faith in Jesus Christ.

This gentle and caring preacher loved his family with all his heart. He lived his life before them as an example of what a godly husband and father is. His children and grandchildren loved him as well, but they knew that he “loved them more.”

Brother Shad was a man of deep and abiding faith who simply allowed Jesus to touch thousands of lives through him as he made his journey through life. This precious man of God had an enduring and unwavering spirit that was obvious to all who knew him. This sweet man fought the good fight and finished the race well. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Insco W. and Charlotte F. Rue; his beloved wife, Billye R. Rue and 11 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his daughter Deene Hyde and husband Jim of Springdale, Arkansas: two sons, Nelson Rue and wife Anne of Waco and Les Rue and wife Sheila of Amarillo; one sister, Aileen Doehler of Littleton, Colorado; nine grandchildren, Linsey McDonald and husband Tony and Ryan Hyde, all of Springdale, Shawn Hyde of Lake Forest, California, Christopher Rue of St. Louis, Chris A. Rue, Misty Rue and Amanda Rue, all of Amarillo, and Jennifer Lee and husband Mike, and David Mauer, all of Dallas; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be given to the Shad and Billye Rue Mission Trip Fund, Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S. Western St., Amarillo, TX 79109; or a favorite charity.

The family will receive friends from 4-5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and Monday at 9:00 a.m. at the Paramount Baptist Church parlor.
