1958-2010



STANFORD — Freddie R. Padgett, 51, of Waynesburg died Thursday, July 15, 2010, in Robbinsville, N.C.

Born July 21, 1958, in Lincoln County, he was a son of Alma Faye Cook Padgett of Waynesburg and the late Billie Lee Padgett. He was an engineer for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 31 years and had a love for farming, especially raising beef cattle. He was a member of the Family Worship Center in Waynesburg and had a special place in his heart for his nieces, nephews and family.

Other survivors include his wife, Lillian Grimes Padgett of Waynesburg; a stepson, Jerry Wayne Long of Lancaster; his brothers, sisters and their children: Johnny Padgett (Suzie) of Waynesburg and Jessica and Michelle; Annette Padgett of Stanford and Joseph Albright; Wayne Padgett of Stanford and Jerrod and Chelsea; Kim Yocum of Waynesburg and Alex and Hannah; Sherrill “Kemo” Padgett (Diane) of Nancy, Ky., and Tyler and Ian; Tammy Sears (Todd) of Stanford and Cameron and Emery “Emmy”; Fonda DuPray (Gary) of Stanford and Kennedy; and James Padgett of Waynesburg and Claudia and Hunter; and a great-nephew, Mason McGuffey.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday and 3-6 p.m. Friday, with the funeral service beginning at 6 p.m. at the Family Worship Center in Waynesburg. A sunset committal service will follow. Pastors B.J. Taylor, Vola Brown and Stan Vickers will officiate the service. Burial will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Randall Riley, Jim Vines, Curt Brown, Nathan Smith, Shane Padgett and Blaine Padgett. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Padgett and Freddie and Lillian’s nieces and nephews.
