Our pets of the week are Maddy and Evelyn.

Sweet, little Maddy is a 14-week-old dilute calico kitten. When she came to the shelter with her five siblings, she weighed less than one pound. Now Maddy is big enough to go to a loving home where she will make a wonderful companion.

Evelyn is just one of several beautiful young, black lab mix dogs that we have available for adoption. Evelyn is 7 months old and weighs about 40 pounds. She has that friendly lab personality and will do well in a home where she will get plenty of exercise, attention and love.

The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society is having a fur sale. Kittens are two for the price of one and adult dogs and cats are $20 off the regular adoption fee. Prices include spay or neuter surgery and much more. If you are considering adding a pet to your family, come to the shelter and visit the beautiful animals waiting for new homes. Also, many of our available pets may be viewed at our website http://www.homes4pets.org.

The humane society urgently needs more volunteers to help on weekend afternoons at our adoption center at the PetSmart at Brannon Crossing in Nicholasville. To learn how you can help with the rewarding work of placing homeless animals with their new forever families, contact Charlotta Norby by e-mail at humanevolunteer@gmail.com.

The humane society welcomes donations of Purina puppy chow and Purina cat food and kitten chow along with bleach, paper towels, laundry detergent, dish detergent and hand soap. We always need used towels and blankets. Your donations to the shelter are greatly appreciated.

Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes. Call our Happy Paws Clinic today at (859) 691-1137 for an appointment. Please help control the pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered.
