Free hunter education course
A free hunter education course sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife will be offered 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Classes will be at the Cedar Creek Sportsman Club, 6.6 miles from Stanford on the new U.S. 150 E. near the Cedar Creek Lake dam.
From Stanford, cross the dam and turn left onto Sportsman Lane Road to the clubhouse.

Boyle Middle School open house planned
The Boyle County Middle School will have an open house for seventh- and eighth-grade students and their parents at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the school. Parents will be able to follow their child’s schedule and receive information regarding the school and the PTO.
Parents may also pay the $40 student fee if they have not already done so.
Garrard library hosts events
Garrard County Public Library events for this week include: What’s new in food storage with Loretta Adams, from the Garrard County Extension office, 10 a.m. Tuesday. She will demonstrate new techniques in food storage such as canning and freezing.
On Wednesday Totally Toddler story time, 9:15-9:46 a.m. for ages 2-3; Primarily preschool, 10-10:45 a.m. for ages 4-5; and Bouncing Book Babies, 11-11:30 a.m., for ages 18 months to three years.
The Wii gaming tournament continues for teens ages 12 to 18 through Sept. 30
Garrard Republicans plan pig roast
LANCASTER —The Garrard County Republican Party will hold a pig roast from 4-7 p.m. Sept. 25 at Logan-Hubble Memorial Park. Tickets are $3 and may be purchased in advance.

Volunteers also are being sought for the Rural Heritage Festival and may use the same contact information.

Boyle County Fiscal Court — 7 p.m. Tuesday at the fiscal court meeting room. The agenda includes second reading of Centre College bond ordinance, July financial statements and an EMS cost containment report.
Danville City Commission — 6:30 p.m. Monday in the city hall public meeting room. The agenda includes a public comment from Les Letton, beautification committee appointment requests, housing authority appointments and a Heart of Danville design committee request.
