September 11, 2010

LOUISVILLE — Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin will be featured at the 2010 National Quartet Convention, Sept. 12-18 in Louisville.

Palin, now an author and political commentator for Fox News, became only the second woman on the national ticket of a major party when Republican presidential candidate John McCain chose her as his running mate in the 2008 presidential election.

Palin will serve as the keynote speaker during an hour-long event on Thursday, beginning at 2 p.m. in Louisville’s Freedom Hall, located on the grounds of the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center.

She will speak for 30 minutes and then spend 30 minutes conducting a question and answer session with attendees.

Admission to the session featuring Palin will be included with the Thursday Showcase ticket package offered by the National Quartet Convention.

National Quartet Convention Vice President Clarke Beasley said Palin is “an inspiration to so many, and she is doing many conferences throughout the nation where she focuses on what her Christian faith and what her family means to her.”

This year marks the 53rd year for the National Quartet Convention, which has been held in Louisville since 1994. Approximately 40,000 people will attend.

The convention is Christian music’s largest marketplace and largest annual event with more than 500 exhibitors and nearly 300 Southern Gospel recording artists in attendance.
