Korey Coleman fired a 2-over-par 74 to finish second in Saturday’s Joy Invitational Golf Tournament played at Wild Turkey Trace in Lawrenceburg.

Lincoln assistant coach Kevin Bandura had high praise for the Lady Patriot senior’s performance in the 18-hole tournament.

“I thought Korey played exceptionally well considering it rained off and on during the early part of the tournament, and the course exhibited the effects of the excessively hot and humid weather conditions we have faced for the past month or so,” he said.

Coleman overcame the weather and course conditions to play well, and she took advantage of a late opportunity to improve her position.

“I was especially pleased with her because she knew she had to make birdie on the 18th hole to move in front of one of her playing partners,” said Bandura. “And she was able to do so.”

As a team, Lincoln finished eighth out of 13 teams, with a four-man score of 362.

Kayla Upchurch and Gentry Lewis both finished the 18-hole tournament with scores of 94 and Kayla Davis rounded out the team scoring with 100.

Davis could have finished at 99.

“Kayla nearly had a hole-in-one on No. 16,” Bandura said. “She hit the pin and the ball ended up about four inches from the hole.”

Lincoln had five players participating in the tournament, with Shilah Todd also on course for the Lady Patriots. Todd finished with a 116.

Scott County was the overall team winner, finishing play with a 318. Boyle Co. was second overall with 340 and Western Hills finished at 347.
