FFA competes at state fair

Several local FFA students saw success at the Kentucky State Fair last month.

Grant Mims was a State Star finalist in agribusiness and received 12th place in the state for alfalfa.

Blue-ribbon winners were Rod White in alfalfa and Dalton Knight in a horticulture display.

Rob Wilson obtained a red ribbon in agriculture mechanics.

The white-ribbon winners included Lindsey Riggs and Tyler Huston for floral displays; and Chris Maddix, Ryan Cook and Ashley Waits in landscaping models.

The Jessamine County FFA Chapter received a blue ribbon in a vegetable display. The chapter also had many participants in the livestock showings.

Jessamine County FFA also recently participated in the livestock auction held Sept. 2 and the Jessamine Jamboree. Chapter members will be participating in the Jessamine County health fair Saturday, Sept. 18, at the extension office near the fairgrounds.
